Who We Are
Committee for Education Excellence is a California General Purpose Recipient Committee dedicated to electing qualified, independent trustees to K-12 school boards in San Diego County. In the 2026 cycle, our current focus is the San Dieguito Union High School District Board of Trustees. Candidates go through a vetting process, and once we decide to support one, they're listed on our Candidates page.
This committee is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any school district or candidate committee.
Why We Formed
Who sits on a school board shapes outcomes for students, staff, and the broader community for years to come — and these races are often decided by small margins and low turnout, which means an organized, well-informed effort can make a real difference. Committee for Education Excellence formed to give that effort a clear, transparent home, supporting trustees who are committed to:
- Academic excellence and high expectations for every student
- Transparent, responsible stewardship of public funds
- A board culture of honest dialogue
- Community engagement and responsiveness to families
- Political independence from outside special interests and unions
A General Purpose Recipient Committee is the standard legal structure for pooling contributions from multiple supporters and directing them to candidate campaigns — with full transparency through California campaign finance disclosure requirements.
What We Believe
We believe strong school board governance — grounded in accountability, transparency, and a genuine commitment to students — shapes the quality of education for the families a district serves. That means rigorous oversight, constructive engagement with district leadership, and a board table where every trustee represents the interests of parents and students first.
Legal Structure & Transparency
Committee for Education Excellence is a General Purpose Recipient Committee registered with the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) and the San Diego County Registrar of Voters. All contributions received and made are reported on FPPC Form 460 and are available for public inspection.
